The Hand-UP Grocery Pantry exists to support individuals and families in Northern Lancaster County who are experiencing food insecurity. At CommunityHive, we believe every neighbor deserves the ability to make their own food choices. Our goal is to provide access to nutritious, diverse food options in an environment that prioritizes choice, respect, and a welcoming experience.

How This Program Helps

The Hand-UP Grocery Pantry provides more than food—it offers a dignified, flexible way for families to meet essential needs.

We offer:

• A client-choice grocery shopping experience
• Access to a wide variety of nutritious food options
• Dietary-friendly selections including gluten-free, dairy-free, meatless, low-sodium, sugar-free, and halal items
• Access to clothing and household essentials in one convenient location

Families can schedule appointments every 14 days (twice per month), with each visit designed to be efficient, respectful, and supportive.

Who We Serve

This pantry serves individuals and families in Northern Lancaster County who are experiencing food insecurity. Our services are designed to support a wide range of household needs and dietary requirements.

How to Get Started

To access the Hand-UP Grocery Pantry:

• Schedule a 30-minute appointment based on availability
• Arrive at your scheduled time and check in with a volunteer
• You may be asked to indicate your income level once per year (no documentation required)

What to Expect

During your visit, you will “shop” the pantry using a grocery cart and select items based on your household’s needs. Volunteers are available to assist with bagging, questions, and connecting you to additional community resources if needed.

If clothing or household goods are needed, you may speak with a volunteer to be connected with appropriate support.

Donations & Community Support

The Hand-UP Pantry is fully stocked and supported by volunteers and community donations.

Donations of non-perishable items are accepted Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

We are especially in need of:

• Paper products
• Toiletries
• Feminine hygiene products
• Diapers (sizes 4, 5, and 6)
